Founder story: STOCKHOLM FOOD MOVEMENT

Stockholm Food Movement is an initiative founded by Andrea Wadlund while she was the head of events at Impact Hub Stockholm. An energetic, young entrepreneur, her passion for food and permaculture earned her a seat at the covetous STING Test Drive Sustainability program in 2016. The idea was born out of a desire to find and match-make landowners for the purpose of sequestering carbon through soil remediation practices. Not knowing any other existing communities focused on food innovation, she saw this as an opportunity to provide that platform for collaboration.

What started as a one-time food event, turned out to be a monthly meet up as the audience insisted they would like to meet up again. Three entrepreneurs working with food share their stories each month and often share or showcase their products at the event. Andrea grew up in the USA where she obtained a master’s degree in public administration in sustainable management prior to relocating to Sweden.

“I thought it was the perfect opportunity to learn more about people working with food in Sweden, find partners or team members for my carbon sequestering ambitions, and use my experience and knowledge of systems thinking to create an interesting, collaborative and supportive community,” says Andrea.

Many entrepreneurs feel that they finally have a platform that belongs to them and a place where they can interact and share their inspiring stories. For any food and soil enthusiasts in Stockholm looking for like-minded people to exchange ideas with, mingle or learn from, the monthly meet up returns in August!

Follow Impact Hub Stockholm on social media for more updates. I attended the Stockholm Food Movement: saving summer edition and was amazed by the vast interest shared by a large group of people whose passion for food, innovation, and sustainability has brought them together.
